In November 2007 Sunrise Horse Rescue was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation in St. Helena. Sunrise Horse Rescue is the only horse rescue operation in the Napa Valley. Our motto is H.O.R.S.E.---Home Of Respected & Saved Equines. The foundation's mission is to rescue abused and neglected horses in Napa and Sonoma Counties as well as provide students of all ages with life-enhancing skills derived from riding and horsemanship. Sunrise Horse Rescue is the non-profit arm of Sunrise Stables, which was founded 4 years ago by Tracee Oles Beebe. Sunrise Horse Rescue currently shelters 10 rescued horses of a variety of breeds, ages and backgrounds.

Among the horses that now have a safe home at Sunrise Horse Rescue are:
• Morgan gelding that was nearly starved to death
• darling little Morgan that was left tied to a trailer for several months with no shelter from winter storms
• healthy lively and beautiful warmblood that was
• scheduled for euthanasia because his owner didn’t need him anymore
• several horses that were on their way to the slaughterhouse
• family pony that was abandoned after the children grew up.
