Horse in Need

We receive several phone calls and emails every week about horses who are in need of new homes. Our Horse in Need Committee works hard to provide resources and support to horse owners to help re-home their horses. If you have a horse in need, please fill out the form below and include as much pertinent information as possible. Please DO NOT send your horse to auction; he or she will likely end up on a terrifying trailer ride to an inhumane ending at a slaughter house. Once you submit this form, someone from our Horse in Need Committee will contact you as soon as possible. Thank you for being an advocate for your horse!

Please submit one form per horse in need.

We know that circumstances involving having to re-home your horse can be very emotional and quite difficult. We don’t want you to feel alone, you are not. Many people are in the same situation and if we can provide support or help along the way, we’d love to do that for you and your horse.

Of course, when you are re-homing you'll want to find the best fit for your horse and its new owner. Be very careful to screen any interested parties. Be on the lookout for horse slaughter dealers who are, unfortunately, common in California. They look for free or low-cost horses being given away or sold by desperate owners who are no longer able to keep their horse and don't ask questions. These dealers especially look for larger breeds. Please be aware of this danger. For more information on the inhumane practice of horse slaughter and how you can help, check out the ASPCA link below.
