Far Son
Far Son is an arabian gelding who was owned by the same family for most of his life, until they experienced some severe health challenges. At a loss with how to care for their two aging horses, Far Son and Sonata, they worked with Sunrise for an extended period until an appropriate foster home opened so that the horses could stay together.
Sadly, Sonata passed in 2022. At that point, Far Son had the companionship of another horse at the foster home. The foster home was sold and Far Son came to Sunrise soon thereafter to live with our senior herd in a pasture near our main facility in Calistoga. Moving a horse very late in life is tricky- adjusting to a whole new situation and herd members is not easy for a horse born in 1992, the equivalent of a human age of about 100 years. As a sensitive, intelligent, and very senior horse, Far Son is looked after carefully by our team of staff and volunteers to make sure his needs are met.
