After the Clayton fire in 2016, there was a horse left at the shelter in Lake County.

The big fella on the right was then given to someone that had trouble getting his hooves trimmed, and they became long and painful. A neighbor took him on and was able to rehabilitate him in part, but then was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to care for him. Blaze came to one of Sunrise's foster homes. 

Blaze underwent veterinary assessment and additional farrier work, and was found to be healthy! He was adopted out and now lives at a stables in northern California, with lots of friends big and small, daily attention from his owner, and excellent vet care. Go Blaze!
